Today we went to the warehouse to draw our Rapid Fielding Initiative (RFI) issue. Unbelievable, is all I can say! Brian, you can't bitch anymore when I bring two suitcases on a trip! I now have four duffel bags with one large ruck sack of gear. The warehouse guys made sure everything fit from our gloves, to helmets to the new Improved Outer Tactical Vest (IOTV). The Soldiers got a laugh at my expense when one station was handing out sports bras and I had to state what size I wear with everyone standing there. Last time I shop here for bras!
Trying on our new helmets.
Sporting my "Marianne the Librarian" glasses
Sergeant First Class Brice Horning as Vanna. The Soldiers thought it was funny that I laid all my stuff out to take a picture of it. However, they all wanted a picture after it was all said and done...go figure.
Really cool Army shirts!

ReplyDeleteWhile I can sympathize with the amount of gear for this particular mission (one year) I cannot agree with you that it takes half as many bags to go on one of several four day trips that we like to enjoy. Somehow the math just doesn't seem to work for me on this one.
I still love you though. Thanks for keeping this blog up to speed.
Hey TiTi
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'll need an even bigger boat the next time we go to the Island, but at least now it sounds like you'll know how to treat the commander.
Love Dad
PS. ask Vanna what size bra she got.

ReplyDeleteI was disheartened to learn of your distaste for needles. Needles are our friends! How else would we stay young beyond our years? When you return from the sun, you may find a new appreciation for needles as they inject Botox!

Hey Red -
ReplyDeleteI'll never forget when Brian, Kelly and I walked back to your room in Jamaica to grab some cigars, we walked in and Kelly asked Brian if you unpacked using a sprinkler, as there were clothes and stuff around the entire perimeter of the room! If i'm not mistaken, Brian was taking a sip of is drink and proceeded to have it all shoot out of his nose! HA...
Good luck packing and be careful with the sports bras, if you recall my comment while in Sedona, you'll remember why!
have a great day,
Mr.Don
Kris,
ReplyDeleteI am on your side with this one! One must have options when traveling. I actually packed an entire bag (a small one) full of just SHOES when I went to florida recently. My mother was completely disgusted with me, lol! It looks like you are having as good a time as you can. Keep up with the blog, it's great!
